Lantern Fest

Emre has always been fascinated with lights. Even when he was a few weeks old, we would have to divert the light bulbs in our lamps cause he would just stare straight into them.  When Alastair bought the tickets for lantern fest, we knew that Emre would love it! And he did!  We chilled on our blanket for an hour or two before it got dark, drew on our lanterns, and then we light up our lanterns around 8:30. We held them until they filled up with hot air and then released them! Emre looked up with his big brown eyes the whole time, watching all the lanterns float away. We all had such a wonderful time!

Redwings

Alastair and I love going to a hockey game. We can't watch it live, but actually going is loads of fun! We went to the Detriot Redwings, a proper NHL team. The arena is right along the river bordering Canada, so that's kind of fun to see! Since the arena is smaller, the noise in there gets pretty loud, so we borrowed some noise cancelling headphones for Emre. Thank goodness we had those! We dressed up in some Redwings gear, just Emre and I. We found our seats, ate some hot dogs, sipped on cherry Coke, and enjoyed the game! Emre absolutely loved it! He was sooooo good the whole time! He just stared at the players on the ice! Towards the end of the game, he even fell asleep! The Redwings won 6-1 or something like that. It was such a good game! After, we were able to get on the ice and take a picture. Emre was asleep and the people in the front of the line were so kind to let us go first. I mean, we did have a sleeping baby! ;)

Dexter

Dexter is a cute little town with a lot of charm! We have go there quite frequently to eat or just go one walks. There's a little farmer's market with the best apple cider I've tasted thus far! Alastair likes hot apple cider but I love cold cider. Thank goodness the machine wasn't working cause I was one happy lady sipping that cold cider! There were some farm animals to look at, so we should Emre the goats, horses, and chickens. Along the river, there's a beautiful boarded pathway, and we've taken that walk a few times. The wildflowers were in bloom, so we snapped a few photos.

Holland

Lately, I've been enjoying the small town vibes. Holland, Michigan has it going on! Labor Day weekend, we spent some time at the beach. Michiganders are all about their beaches, which I didn't take them too seriously until we played around Lake Michigan. There were actually waves, white sand, and water as far as the eye can see! If you haven't seen the ocean, you would feel like you're there! Emre loved playing with the sand. This time he didn't try to put it in his mouth, he would take the sand towards him. I love observing Emre as he discovers the world around him; one of the joys of being a mom!  We spent the evening downtown, eating at an Irish restaurant. While waiting for our table, we strolled around and window shopped. While eating dinner, we enjoyed some live music and Emre drank water from our straws. By the time we were finished, it was pretty dark, so we bought some fudge and strolled by an old college. I love those history plaques, I always read
