Riga Girls Go Like This

Not a huge fan of New Year's Eve, mainly because we never really do anything special. However, we did have a bangin party in 1999. I was a kid, but still. NewYears is just mehh. Once we landed, we picked up our rental and debated just driving to our hotel and just sleeping. But we were in Vilnius and we thought, why not, let's go see what Estonians do to celebrate!
We drove to the old town and there were many people in the square. The clock was counting down, people had their champagne bottles in hand and sparklers waving. Once the clock struck 12, fireworks lit off and everyone was kissing and toasting to the new year. It was really fun, I loved it! And Emre slept the whole time, in our arms.

We spent the next few days driving from one country to the other. We started in Vilnuis, went to Riga, and then Tallin and back. It was a lot of driving, Emre was a bugger, and it was frigid cold. But we had a good time.

All the Baltic countries had the magical charm to their architecture. The color choices and the intricate designs, I loved it! Riga's weather was cold and windy, it would just push you around! We stopped at cafes and Lidos, our new favorite place. I wished they had a Lido in Barcelona, it's so good. We were getting tired of eating fast food, so we found this place that looks like a buffet but you pay what you grab. It was great!

We did a lot of walking around and relaxing, just took it easy. We were getting worn out, so we needed to chill.

When we were heading back, we decided to go to church in Riga. It had been a while since we went to church, so we found a meetinghouse in Riga. To be honest, it was one of the prettiest chapels I have seen. We sat down and the service was in Russian. A missionary asked if we would like for him to translate for us. We were chatting with him and come to find out, he was from the same ward as the McKee's in South Africa and he was friends with Connor! And then he remembered Alastair as well, a little bit about the unpoppable balls we brought. Such a small world!

Highlights of the trip were Lido, retail therapy, working out, and the Einstein book. Went to a Nike store and found a good deal on some Pegasus, my favorite shoe. I've been wanting some for years and couldn't pass up the deal, so I got some. Then I convinced Alastair to try a pair out for himself, so he bought some. And now he loves them! From New Balance to Nike, he's gonna go far! haha!
