Turning 29 In Mallorca

We're celebrating our last 20's birthdays by going on trip. Since Alastair's fell on a weekend, he found some flights to Mallorca. We haven't explored too much of Spain, especially getting out of Catalunya. We had an early flight; Emre watched Paw Patrol and Alastair and I listened to music. We were making each other laugh so hard, I felt like such an immature child. But it was a good way to start our vacation on the right foot! It was a short flight, only 30 minutes of flying.
We quickly got our car and made our way to the mountains. I was expecting Mallorca to be very tropical, flat, and filled with palm trees. It wasn't what I imagined! There are mountains, very rustic and outdoorsy! The only annoyance were all the cyclists. Like, a ridiculous amount! At first, it was really cool to see a herd of cyclists. After passing a dozen of them, I was over it. Everywhere we drove, especially going up the mountain, cyclists were there. We passed hundreds, I'm not exaggerating. We eventually made it to this rocky beach where Alastair wanted to go. To get to the beach, we had to walk through a cave/tunnel. It was pretty cool! We relaxed by the water and played games to pass the time. Alastair and I would try to throw rocks into a hole on the cliff. We always come up with silly games like that, it's so fun!

We made our way back to the town, Alastair did a bit of birthday shopping and we ate at McDonald's. Alastair didn't want to eat anywhere fancy, he just wanted to chat while emre was busy playing. A nice and chill way to celebrate!
The next morning, we went to the closest beach and played in the sand. Alastair went on a run, training for his marathon. After his run, we rented a pony bicycle. There was this purple pony on the front, where emre could sit and ride. We thought we could win a cool parent award from Emre, so we rented it for an hour. A bit ambitious, it's actually more tiring than it looks! We only rode it for about 20 minutes and returned it. Haha!
For lunch, Alastair wanted to watch the Liverpool game. We went to an Irish pub and ate some meat pies and peas; some classic Irish/English food. It was pretty good! After watching a bit of the game, we went beach hopping, trying to find the best place. It was kind of windy and cold, so we didn't jump and play in the water. But it sure was fun playing in the sand. I attempted to make a sand sculpture. It's quite difficult, but it was fun!

Earlier that day, while Alastair was running, he remembered this cool spot that he wanted to take us. Emre slept in the car while we made our way to this spot. Alastair carried emre for a bit while we walked along the beach. It was a beach that had some old tombs dating back to 700 BC. I was geeking out for a bit! We also found some cave dwellings. It was one of my all-time favorite walks we have ever been on, a memory I want to cherish forever. We ate food and eventually headed home.
Emre has been afraid of getting his hair wet, a new trend. I think it's because he doesn't like getting anything in his eyes. I mean, who does? Alastair was being super cautious while washing his hair and found a bug. He called me over to inspect. Sure enough, it was a bug. I grabbed it and put it on the side of the tub. This bug was a gross squirmer between my fingers. We looked at it and sure enough, it was a mother effin tick. That SOB thinks he can chill in my son's hair?! I don't think so! So I grabbed toilet paper, smooshed it, and flushed it down the toilet. Thank heavens it was just in his hair and it didn't embed itself into his head. We all inspected each other very thoroughly. It was such a scary moment to end an almost perfect day!

Our last day was spent in Palma. It's a very touristy area with a really cool castle/cathedral. We walked around a lot and park hopped. On the way to Palma, we found an outlet. We were looking for a sweater for Emre, because it got pretty chilly and I didn't come prepared. So we found a cardigan and then at the Nike store, found a Barca kit. Only 20 euros, quite the deal! Emre was so happy! He calls himself Messi and felt like he was Messi in the kit. Once we saw it, he wanted it, and immediately out it on. We couldn't say no!

We went to a park and kicked his new football around while wearing his new kit. It was so cute! And emre's a lefty, which makes us so happy! I'm so glad that Emre loves football, which makes Alastair so happy as well! We played and walked around for hours, the weather was so nice! They had cute little markets to admire as well! We had an early flight, had to get to the airport at 4:30 in the morning. We didn't stay in a hotel, just in the car. We stayed up late, around 12. Emre fell asleep in his carseat and I was smooshed up next to him in the back. Alastair went for a run and then slept in the driver's seat. It was miserable and my back hurt, but we saved some money. We got home around 9, we were so tired! Alastair skipped school and we slept for only a little bit because we had to get to Ripollet to get my NIE card. Didn't want to miss picking that up!
Had a great weekend celebrating Alastair and enjoying family time!
