Pennsylvania Has Intercourse

On the way home, I wanted to make a stop in Intercourse, PA to hangout with the Amish. I went here as a kid with my family on this big East coast trip, and this was one of my favorite places. Mainly because there was this awesome buffet that we all loved. I remember we were all starving and stopped at this place to eat. We all sat silently, just stuffing our faces. The waiter came up to us and asked if everything was alright, so we told him that we were starving! The food was sooo good!

It was a couple hours away from DC, but the drive there was gorgeous! We took the back roads, and I'm so glad we did! We were able to see the Amish in their horse and buggies. It was just fun to see the countryside and all the Amish riding to and fro.

Once we arrived, we found a cheap place to stay. We didn't research the area or look at Google maps, so we just drove down the main road to find a place to eat. We found one diner that was open. It wasn't the best food. I ordered a chicken pot pie, but it was not a chicken pot pie. I was expecting a flaky crust and a hearty meals, but it was more of a mush with biscuit mixed in with it. It looked like prison food! Haha! It was not great.

After a long day of driving and since a lot of the shops were closed, we retired early. Unfortunately, it was a rough night. Emre got sick, and he woke up a lot. And our friend, Ben, was snoring and Alastair absolutely hates snoring! So he would wake me up and complain whenever he would wake up from the snoring. Ugh, such a miserable night! To top it off, I had my period. Haha! I did not wake up in the best mood.

We woke up and packed up the car to find some breakfast. I had been craving Chick-Fil-A for the longest time (Ann Arbor doesn't have one), so I found one a few minutes away. Come to find out, Intercourse is a little more civilized than we thought! There was a road parallel to the one the night before that had all the main shops and restaurants. There was a Target, an Olive Garden, fast food, an outlet mall, and even a West Elm! We felt robbed!

We spent the rest of our time driving around and checking out the Amish way of life. We pulled into a farm that was selling homemade root beer. They had a little shop that was selling some homemade goods. Alastair bought a gallon of root beer, mainly because he liked the glass bottle, some homemade fudge (which was really good), and chatted to the shop keeper about their way of living. There was a mom and baby goat close to where we were, so Emre and I played with them. Emre was shy at first, especially with the mommy goat, but warmed up pretty quick. At first, he was quickly grazing with his pointer finger, but eventually got comfortable enough to properly pet them. He absolutely loved the baby goat! The baby was frolicking and hopping around, so cute! We even got to feed the mommy. One of the highlights of the trip. Alastair ended up hating the root beer, it smelled like medicine, so he ended up just tossing it about a week later. At least we still have the giant glass bottle! We had an 8 hour drive, most of the time was spent singing to "Despacito." We all had a great time!
