Grandparents Visit the Bay Area

One of the benefits of living on the West coast is the proximity to family. We loved all the family time we were able to have, especially Emre! He became best pals with his Gigi and her elephant collection. It was so nice to give her a call to let her know we were on our way to hangout with her! We love our Gigi!

It was also nice to be a road trip away from Grandma and Grandad. They were able to travel to the Bay Area with Alastair's aunts, Vickie and Joyce. I've never met that side of the family, so it was nice to officially meet the McKee side!

We spent the weekend in Monterrey and Carmel. Our first stop was at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium. I was so excited to take Emre there! At the time, he was so into sharks. Absolutely obsessed! I was excited to take him to see real sharks. The experience was ok, just bummed that there were soooo many people! completely crowded. I felt a bit overwhelmed and we didn't even manage to take Emre out of the baby carrier. It was kind of a disappointment for the price and the crowds. Oh well, there will be plenty of aquarium visits, I'm sure of it!

Alastair's great uncle lives on 17 mile drive, so nice! After having a family gathering, we headed to a beautiful beach right when the sun was setting. I would make sea turtles with the sand and Emre would squish them and the grandparents took a little stroll. We all took a turn at running from the waves! That day had to have been one of the best days of my life. It truly was a great day!

On Sunday, we decided to venture off into San Francisco. Logan and Veronica also made the trek from Utah to California and met us at Boudin. We spent most of our time at the Baker Beach, with the good old nudists basking in the sun. Quite the sight!

A bit underwhelmed with the Painted Ladies. With the drought and plans for the park across the street, it was looking quite dismal. We googled how much the houses cost, $5 million. I was expecting more, to be honest.

To finish off their stay, nothing beats the Google hospitality. We took them around the Google campus in Mountain View and the Youtube office as well. Not many can have a private little tour from a googler, so whenever someone would visit, we would take them. We sure love Google!

Last but not least, a picture of Emre. Haha! I love this kid!
