Ariel's Point

Topping our to-do list in Boracay was a trip to Ariel's Point, a place where you can eat, drink, cliff dive, kayak, snorkel and just hang out. Everything is included in one price, so you basically just pay your money and then spend the rest of the day without having to worry about any price tags. Sadly, some money was stolen from our bag while we were there, but what can you do!

Ariel's Point was an hour boat ride from Boracay on a two story boat. In order to get on the boat however, we had to wade out from White Beach, jumping over small waves as we got deeper and deeper into the ocean. We arrived at the boat just as the water was up to our necks. Keeping our backpack and camera dry was a challenge, but we managed!

The weather was lovely as we left Boracay Island, but as we progressed towards Ariel's Point, the weather took a turn for the worse. Being the off-season, we passed right through a storm, which seemed to threaten our entire day! The heavy rain delayed our cliff jumping for a while and completely cancelled our kayaking and snorkeling, which was a pity.

Arriving at Ariel's Point, our boat pulled into a little cove, where we had to jump off the boat and use a rope to pull ourselves towards a rocky cliff where a small staircase awaited us. Waves crashed all around us, trying to drown us, or at least throw us into the rocks, but apart from Alastair nearly losing his watch we made it through unscathed. However, for the time being, our backpack had to remain on the boat, which was probably why we ended up with $50 less than we started out with!

After a little while, the weather improved and our little group started throwing themselves off the cliff. There were three diving boards, 6m (18ft), 8m (24ft) and 15m (45ft). Laleinia was brave enough to do the 6m diving board, but after showing it who was boss, she retired from her short but successful cliff jumping career. Alastair jumped from 8m, and then realized he could not leave without jumping from the highest board, even though he was rather nervous. Realizing that regret would follow him forever if he did not do it, Alastair finally threw himself off the platform, and even though his feet really hurt for the next little while, it was worth it!

After eating some great Filipino food, and talking with some really cool people, we headed back to Boracay to continue on with our life in Paradise.
